The osteoporosis drug raloxifene (Evista) has been approved for the prevention of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis or postmenopausal women at high risk for invasive breast cancer, the FDA announced Friday.

TYKERB(R) (lapatinib), in combination with Xeloda(R) (capecitabine) is approved for the treatment of patients with advanced or metastatic breast cancer whose tumors overexpress HER2 and who have received prior therapy including an anthracycline, a taxane, and trastuzumab. It is the first targeted, once-daily oral treatment option for this patient population.

Advances in Sentinel Lymph Node mapping over the past decade have increased the accuracy of detecting Sentinel Lymph Node from 80% using blue dye alone to between 92% and 98% using combined modalities.
